About
Global City Briefing is an independent editorial publication about urban geography and city form. It follows the visible patterns of streets, districts, public spaces and infrastructure, and asks what those patterns can tell us about how a city is organised.
A city in close view
Our subjects range from the shape of a block to the connections between districts. We explain familiar urban features, compare ways places are laid out, and trace how earlier choices remain legible in the present. The aim is to help curious readers notice structure without reducing a city to a diagram.
For curious city readers
The publication is for people who walk, ride, visit, study or simply wonder about cities. No specialist vocabulary is assumed. Each piece gives enough context to make its subject clearer, while leaving room for the variety of places and experiences that no single account can contain.
A measured point of view
We treat urban form as something to examine, not a recipe with one ideal answer. A street or public space can serve different people in different ways. We distinguish explanation from opinion, name uncertainty where it matters, and avoid presenting general observations as instructions for a particular city.
