Write for us

Global City Briefing welcomes pitches that help readers understand the shape and organisation of cities. Send proposals through the Contact page, with the reason for writing set to an editorial question or general message.

What we consider

We are interested in clear, original work about street form, districts, public space, infrastructure and the urban past. A strong proposal starts with a specific question, explains why it matters to a general reader and shows what the piece would help them see or understand.

Make the pitch useful

Include a working title, a short outline, the intended category and a note on the material or sources the piece would draw on. Tell us whether the idea is explanatory, comparative, historical or another form. Keep the scope manageable and identify any limits or uncertainties that the final article would need to acknowledge.

Original work and review

Pitches should be your own and should not present unsupported claims as settled fact. Do not send confidential material or assume that a proposal has been accepted. We cannot promise a reply or publication, and any commission, editing process and terms would be discussed before work is undertaken.
